Eddie Arthur Sowers, 94, of Castle Rock, WA, died Wed., Jan. 23, 2013.
No service was held. Private inurnment will take place under the direction of Steele Chapel at Longview Memorial Park and Crematory.
Eddie was born June 3, 1918, in Ericson, NE, to Harvey and Mary (Plessel) Sowers, the fourth of 14 children. He grew up and attended school in Ord, NE. He worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps and served in the Army during World War II.
In 1949, he married Zona Dye. They moved to Longview, WA, in 1951. He retired after 30 years with Reynolds Aluminum.
Eddie was a member of Sunnyside Grange, Kelso Eagles, and Longview Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis (Rex) Ogden and Nancy Sowers; four grandsons, Greg (Bridget) Ogden, Larry Ogden, Alonzo (Julia) Ogden and Elliott (Breanna) Alleman; four great-grandchildren, Sophia, Lori, Samantha and Mason Ogden, with two on the way; three sisters, Stella Hans of Seward, NE, Letha (Vic) Morrow of Ord, NE, and Grace Sowers of St. Paul, NE; two brothers, Levi Sowers of San Dimas, CA, and George (Tina) Sowers of Lakewood, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Zona in 1985, a dear companion, Josie Dow in 2008, and siblings, Dorothy, Bill, Henry, Mary, Charles (killed in Iwo Jima), Walter, Betty and Elsie.
