The Chants started the weekend by losing to top five rated Central at home 60-34. The Chants put themselves down early and were never able to respond vs. the Patriots. The Patriots lead from start to finish. The leading scorer for Chants was Trevor Fahrenholz with 7 points. Coach Gates said, "This was a tough loss vs. a good team but we need to learn from this and get better."
The next night the Chants lost a heartbreaker to Centura 49-47. In a close tilt, the Chants fell on a buzzer beater by the Centurions. The Chants battled but were unable to hold a lead throughout the game. Poor shooting doomed the Chants again going 13-48 from the field. Coach Gates said after the game, "We took good shots all night, none of them went in." He added "We are improving in other areas and if we keep doing that we will give ourselves a chance to win night in and night out, when we don't shoot as well as we would like." The Chants were led by Trevor Fahrenholz with 16 points and Flagan Petska led the team with 9 rebounds.
The Chants are now 1-5 and host West Holt on Tuesday then go on the road to play Cozad on Thursday Night.
